Not a clue. Maybe we should use cuefactors? Mine's 48.

I was told that it was done considering the previous seasons performance....but that seems like a load of twaddle. 2 Seasons ago I topped the indivudual rankings in division 3, and I'll use my mate Andy Ford as an example...he finished half way down the rankings. Now, last season started...I started poorly and Andy started well...I got handicapped at 28, Andy at 21. We both finish strongly in the top 10 in division 2. However, now we're in division 1, I've started slightly better than Andy...and I'm still pegged at 28!? Andy's still on 21, and that's what I expcted myself to be on. So I ask you....how the heck are these handicaps based on previous seasons performances??

Well, I wouldn't complain, gives you a 7 point head start on what you were expecting. I can only assume that each club delegate recommends handicaps and then the committee checks and amends these. If not, I don't have a clue.

I still think cuefactors should be used, I mean, we've got everyone's frame scores stored on this site as well as high breaks, so why not?!

I'll happily take the 28 handicap don't get me wrong...but it's the fact that it feels my ability has been overlooked, another player descirbed it as an insult...the fact I've progressed my game and got much better over the two years and it doesn't get noticed when handicapping. I've got the highest handicap in the team, and I don't think that's right, I shoudl be on par with the guys on 21. I'm sure there's others who don't agree with their handicaps.

What exactly do you mean cuefactors Neil?

It's like the universal handicapping system in golf, but using snooker - it takes into account highest break, recent highest break and your recent frame scores. The guy who invented it (Neil Tomkins, ex pro) lives in Cardiff and he's been showing us the ropes. They've got a website - www.cuefactor.com.
