on Friday, March 1, 2013 Unfortunately i have to advise that St Charles will be playing the remainder of all hteir games away from home for the rest of the season. We had hoped we had found a new home to play our snooker on a wednesday at Mount Carmel, which is another Parish club run by the same archdiosis as St Charles. We manged to play two matches there, and thought we had settled in quite nicely as most of the local members were ex st charles or ex league members. Unfortunatley tonight, during the Executive commitee meeting, comments were directed towards myself regarding the fact my team were not liked and obviosuly not welcomed at Mount Carmel, by the same team we were sharing the venue with!. It frustrates me that grown men can make assumptions aboiut people when they dont even play in the same division?!, and i now have a team of angry people who are not happy with the comments that were levelled at them tonight, sad for my team sad for the league, but sadder for the team who made these comments!. My lads have never caused any trouble, or shouted their mouths off, yes weve had banter along the way, and we also managed to quite happily share st Charles with another team too, because thats what its all about really, enjoying the night and having a good time..except if you play in Mount Carmel apparently!. So for the remainder of the season the lads have agreed to play all their remaining games away from home, regardless. I have played in this league for over 29 yrs and never heard such comments directed at a team during a meeting and im quite disapointed to be honest, people have let themselves down, and the result of it just means the league is a little poorer for it!. cheers, J. |

on Friday, March 1, 2013 Very surprised and shocked by this unfortunate situation! In light of our league currently struggling to keep teams, clubs and players due to the current economic state, the thought of a fellow club not wishing to help out a long serving league team whose club has fallen victim to the above mentioned economic mess, is beyond me!! I have known every member of St Charles team for over 2 decades now whilst also playing for them for a few seasons, and have never had a problem with any of them because they all play snooker in the right spirit and with respect, not to mention representing the league for many years in the interleague competitions, and it will be a shame if the league loses these players, and any players for that matter, next season!! All these guys want is a good club to continue to play in the league!! As a player and as a mate of the St Charles team I feel sorry for them, and as the current Fixture Secretary, I will actively look for a suitable venue for you next season!! |
