Gareth Sambrookes (Metalbox 'A')	Posted on Wednesday, July 10, 2013 Hi guys me personally found the new cup a waste of time, maybe if it was started earlier then there might off been a bit more interest as it could be used to wipe away the cobwebs for the new season. I have an idea for a replacement and would like your views. Its a mini league home and away games, run the same way as the last cup but only 4 games are played, 2 singles and 2 doubles, each player has an individual handicap so if for EG R Sambrookes and G Sambrookes are paired and both of 20 then we have a combined handicap of 40. if we play a pair with a combined handicap off 55 then we give them a 15 start. You play for 1 point per game and at the end of the 4 games all the points are tallied up and the winning team takes the other 1 point. Only one player out of the 2 pairs matches can play an individual game as well. Who ever wins the toss at the beginning off the match gets to choose which order they want to play ie 1st and 3rd or 2nd and 4th, the team that loses the toss gets to choses which game they want to play first ie doubles or singles. This removes the home advantage and makes it a bit more fun and interesting. We have all been there were you win your individual game but the team loses the match, this is disheartening but this format allows you to still get that 1 point, maybe the handicaps can be used as the same ones that are done for the leagues individual comp just an idea guys and would like your views as if you think this is a good idea or bad and maybe things that could be added or removed from my suggestion. ta guys
