Player Handicaps 2024-25 List The Player Handicap list can be found on our website under the DOCUMENTS section. Representatives are expected to print this out and display in your appropriate club and maybe a good idea would be for all captains or a team player to take a picture of it and store on your phone. THE PLAYER HANDICAP LIST WILL BE UPDATED ONCE DURING THE ENTIRETY OF THE SEASON WHICH WILL BE AT THE CHRISTMAS BREAK BUT THE COMMITTEE HAVE THE POWER TO AMEND ANY PLAYER'S HANDICAP AT ANY TIME IF WE FEEL IT IS INCORRECT SO OBVIOUSLY UNFAIR. Thank you for your co-operation in advance. Early Start Matches Please be aware that matches played at Farmers Club will ALWAYS be a 7.30pm start. Thank you for your co-operation in advance. Reminder – Submitting Results Can I ask all team captains that if you are borrowing a player from another team (within the league rules) that you text myself (Barry Adlington) IMMEDIATELY to inform me of this and I will place that players name in your team list. This enables you to submit your result correctly. Thank you for your co-operation on this matter. Neutral Venues Now On Website Neutral venues for Semi-finals & Finals can now be viewed on our website. This obviously makes it easier for players to view their information without having to contact myself or wait until they are next in their club to consult the monthly circular. Circular. Olympic Bowling Club Dress Code I have been asked by the Olympic BC committee to remind everyone around the league of their dress code when visiting the club. Smart jeans and trainers are now allowed to be worn but they still have the minimum requirement of a collared shirt or t-shirt. This has not been adhered to recently and can I remind everyone that we must respect the club rules for future visits. Thank you. Kenney Cup Report Group Stages (Match Week 4) This particular week we saw the fourth group matches in this year's Kenney Cup. All Kenney Cup results and up-to-date tables can be found on our website. Group A All three matches were played in this group this time around with two matches contested on the Tuesday night and the other one fought out on the Thursday evening. Firstly, on the Tuesday evening, leaders, Stanley Club came up against Scarisbrick NSC and at the end of the contest it saw the Stanley side prevailing with a 4-2 triumph to do their chances of qualifying out the group no harm whatsoever. The first two frames of this match saw each team grab a frame each to see the tie in the melting pot at 1-1. Frames three and four saw the Stanley Club lads up the ante as they clinched both these frames to move into a commanding 3-1 lead and at least guarantee themselves a point. The concluding two frames, once again, saw each outfit take a frame apiece and this was enough to see the Stanley boys through to their win and maximum points. The outcome still sees the Stanley Club team at the head of the Group A table on frames won in an incredibly tight group were any of the six teams can still qualify for the quarter-finals going into the final round of matches. The Scarisbrick side sit in fifth spot in the standings. The other Tuesday match saw Upholland Social take on Farmers Club B and at the end of the evening the spoils and points were shared in a 3-3 draw. Frames one and two of the encounter saw the Farmers B boys race out the traps as they engineered a very useful 2-0 lead. The next frames were divided up between the two outfits to give the Upholland team a foothold although they still trailed 3-1. The last two frames saw the Upholland Social lads come roaring back as they sealed both frames to snatch a point in the 3-3 stalemate. This result sees both sides lie in joint third position in the table were they both have an identical record so an exciting finale to this group is definitely assured. The match also saw Upholland’s, Keiron Magrath in fine nick with a nice break of 32 in his frame win. Meanwhile, on the Thursday night, it saw the other match in this group between Aughton Institute D and Skelmersdale Wardens A and at the conclusion of proceedings it saw an emphatic 5-1 victory for the Aughton D outfit. The initial two frames saw them split between the two sides which saw the contest delicately poised at 1-1. It was at this point that the Aughton Institute D team kicked in the turbo as they took both the middle two frames to open up a decisive 3-1 advantage. Frames five and six saw the Aughton D lads finish off in style as they also captured both these frames to confirm their terrific success. This outcome sees the Aughton Institute D boys move up to second place in the table, level on points with the pace- setters whilst the Skelmersdale A outfit drop to bottom but are still very much in the mix going into the final group matches in a couple of weeks time. The match also saw Skelmersdale Wardens A’s, Paul Holcroft continued his excellent form of late with a fine break of 39 but, amazingly, it wasn’t enough to seal the frame. Group B There were just two matches played in group B this week with one match played on the Tuesday evening and the other contested on the Thursday night. Firstly, contested on the Tuesday, Aughton Institute E clashed with St Cuthberts A and this match became a very one-sided affair as the Aughton E side ran riot with a 6-0 demolition of their opponents. The Aughton Institute E boys were very swiftly out the blocks as they took both the opening two frames to open up an authoritative advantage at 2-0. The second two frames saw the Aughton E team continue to dominate proceedings as they soon raced to an unassailable 4-0 lead and the two match points sealed. The final two frames, once again, saw the Aughton Institute E clinching them both to finish off the rout. The result sees the Aughton E outfit move up two places into second spot in the group table, a point behind the leading team. The Cuthberts guys drop into third in the standings but still sit on the same number of points as their conquerors and extremely well in the hunt to qualify. The match also saw Aughton E’s, Gary Jones in fine touch with a really nice break of 38 in his frame victory. Two nights later, on the Thursday evening, Farmers Club A went into battle with Fleetwood Hesketh SSC and it was the Fleetwood outfit who came away with a very solid 4-2 triumph. The first two frames saw the Fleetwood Hesketh boys get off to a great start by grabbing both of these frames to move into a commanding 2-0 advantage. Frames three and four saw the Farmers A outfit stay in the contest as they shared both frames but still trailed 3-1. The concluding two frames were also split between the two teams and this was enough to see the Fleetwood lads through to their very good win. This outcome sees the Fleetwood Hesketh side move back to the summit of the Group B table and a point from their final match will see them through to the next stage of the competition. Meanwhile, the Farmers Club A team occupy fourth position but are still firmly in the hunt to progress further. The match also saw Fleetwood’s, Andy Booth in tremendous nick with a very classy break of 62 in his frame success and this earned him this week’s ‘Break of the Week’ accolade. Also amongst the breaks was Fleetwood’s, Martin Brown as he compiled a superb, half-century break of 54. Andy’s break began when he was left a good opportunity by his opponent and Andy certainly didn’t disappoint. He very quickly dispatched four reds, all with pink and black balls, to quickly move onto thirty. Andy’s next red needed a tricky, middle pocket pot which he dispatched with aplomb to gain position on the black ball. Once he took that black Andy went on to take a further two reds in that usual fluent style of his, both with another two black balls, and this took Andy’s break through the half-century mark to fifty four. He finished nicely on the final red of the frame and potted it and gained ideal position on the blue which he dispatched and got perfect on the yellow. On potting the yellow he over screwed it for the green ball which needed the use of the rest and unfortunately Andy rattled the green and this brought an end to a great break on 62. Andy moved to the Southport area and shortly after joined Southport SC where he started playing in our League at the commencement of the 2003-04 campaign, by the end of that season Andy had helped his side, the now defunct, Southport SC to the First Division Crown and the Kenney Cup Competition to complete the 'Double', he was also Runner-up in the Individual Championship of the League in his debut season. Andy has now a fine list of Ormskirk League honours with six Division One Titles for old club, Southport SC and a further nine with his Les Dodd SC, Southport Conservative Club & current Fleetwood Hesketh SSC sides, five Kenney Cup Titles and also eight Le Rose Cup Titles together with the 2005-06 Individual Handicap Title and a superb four Pairs Handicap Titles in seasons 2008-09, 2009-10, 2014-15 and 2016-17, a brilliant role of honour list.. This season it’s looking very good for yet another league title with for Andy and Fleetwood side. Andy also has won many highest break trophies. Andy is also a member of the Ormskirk League representative team that were triumphant in the UK League Snooker tournament last October. The other match in this group between Aughton Institute C and Aughton Institute A was postponed and will now be played on Monday 9th December. Group C This group saw one match contested on the Tuesday night and the other two played on the Thursday evening. Firstly, on the Tuesday, Olympic BC B met Aughton Institute B and after the completion of the match it was the Aughton B side that manufactured an important 4-2 triumph. The opening two frames saw both teams rack up a frame each to see the tie there for the taking at 1-1. The next two frames saw the Aughton Institute B move up a gear as they won both frames to open up a 3-1 lead and guarantee themselves at least a point. The last two frames saw both teams grab a frame apiece and this was enough to see the Aughton B outfit through to victory. This result see the Aughton B lads move up to second slot, and look very well placed to give themselves a spot in the quarter-finals, whilst the Olympic B guys drop to the foot of the table and now unable to progress any further in the competition. The two Thursday matches firstly saw Skelmersdale Wardens B face Olympic BC A and at the conclusion of this match it saw the Skelmersdale B lads cement a fine 4-2 win. Frames one and two of this encounter saw the Skelmersdale B outfit make a great start by clinching both frames to move into a very healthy 2-0 advantage. The middle two frames saw them divided up between both teams and this saw the Olympic A outfit still in the contest but they still trailed 3-1. The final two frames were also split between each side and this was enough to see the Skelmersdale Wardens B boys over the line to their solid win. The outcome sees the Skelmersdale B team move to the head of the group standings. Meanwhile, the Olympic BC A side occupy fifth and now cannot qualify for the latter stages. The final match played saw St Cuthberts B come up against Rainford X SSC and it saw the Cuthberts B outfit record a vitally important 4-2 triumph to keep their Kenney Cup hopes firmly intact. The initial two frames of this tie saw both outfits seal a win apiece to leave things well balanced at 1-1. The following two frames saw the St Cuthberts B side fast out the blocks as they sealed both frames to move into a really important 3-1 advantage. The concluding two frames were also split between each team and this saw the Cuthberts B lads through to their solid success. This result sees the Rainford X team drop into third place in the standings whilst the St Cuthberts B guys move up into fourth position with all to play for going into the final round of matches. Other notable breaks this week were – A Moy (Aughton Institute D) 33 & R Wilson (Aughton Institute E) 32. |
