Player Handicaps 2024-25 List The Player Handicap list can be found on our website under the DOCUMENTS section. Representatives are expected to print this out and display in your appropriate club and maybe a good idea would be for all captains or a team player to take a picture of it and store on your phone. THE PLAYER HANDICAP LIST WILL BE UPDATED ONCE DURING THE ENTIRETY OF THE SEASON WHICH WILL BE AT THE CHRISTMAS BREAK BUT THE COMMITTEE HAVE THE POWER TO AMEND ANY PLAYER'S HANDICAP AT ANY TIME IF WE FEEL IT IS INCORRECT SO OBVIOUSLY UNFAIR. Thank you for your co-operation in advance. Early Start Matches Please be aware that matches played at Farmers Club will ALWAYS be a 7.30pm start. Thank you for your co-operation in advance. Reminder – Submitting Results Can I ask all team captains that if you are borrowing a player from another team (within the league rules) that you text myself (Barry Adlington) IMMEDIATELY to inform me of this and I will place that players name in your team list. This enables you to submit your result correctly. Thank you for your co-operation on this matter. Neutral Venues Now On Website Neutral venues for Semi-finals & Finals can now be viewed on our website. This obviously makes it easier for players to view their information without having to contact myself or wait until they are next in their club to consult the monthly circular. Circular. Olympic Bowling Club Dress Code I have been asked by the Olympic BC committee to remind everyone around the league of their dress code when visiting the club. Smart jeans and trainers are now allowed to be worn but they still have the minimum requirement of a collared shirt or t-shirt. This has not been adhered to recently and can I remind everyone that we must respect the club rules for future visits. Thank you. Kenney Cup Report Group Stages (Match Week 5) This week saw the all-important fifth and final group matches in this year's Kenney Cup. All Kenney Cup results and up-to-date tables can be found on our website. Group A Going into this final week in Group A with its final three matches where one was played on the Tuesday evening and the other two encounters were contested on the Thursday night. Firstly, on the Tuesday night, Scarisbrick NSC went into battle with Upholland Social and a win for either side would give them a chance of progressing in this year’s competition. At the completion of the match it was the Scarisbrick outfit who engineered a fine 4-2 home victory but as things transpired in the other two group matches they failed to go through as one of the two best third placed teams. The first two frames of the contest saw them being divided up between both sides to leave the tie in the melting pot at 1-1. Frames three and four saw the Scarisbrick NSC lads move up a gear as they claimed both frames to move into an authoritative 3-1 advantage. The final two frames of this encounter saw each side grab one frame each and this was enough to see the Scarisbrick boys over the line. The match also saw Scarisbrick’s captain, Andrew Linaker in good form again with a very nice break of 44 but amazingly it wasn’t enough to clinch his frame. The first match from this group played on the Thursday evening saw Skelmersdale Wardens A take on Stanley Club with the Skelmersdale A team needing a very good win then relying on the other result and the Stanley outfit needing just a point to qualify. At the end of proceedings it saw the Stanley Club boys produce a convincing 5-1 triumph which saw them through as group winners and a guaranteed home quarter-final encounter. The opening two frames of this match were shared between both sides to see things up for grabs at 1-1. The middle two frames of the contest went the way of the Stanley Club team to see them move into a commanding 3-1 lead. Frames five and six of the encounter also saw both frames sealed by the Stanley lads to see them through to their excellent success and that place in the last eight of the Kenney Cup. The other contest played on the Thursday night saw Farmers Club B come up against Aughton Institute D with the Farmers B side needed to win this match whilst a point would see the Aughton D boys through to the latter stages of this year's renewal. The battle ended in a 3-3 draw and this outcome was enough to see the Aughton Institute D outfit finish in the runners-up berth of the group A table and a quarter- final spot. The encounter started with frames one and two won by the Farmers Club B lads as they were soon into their stride and this put them in a very strong position. The next two frames saw the Aughton D side show their big, battling qualities as they fought right back to reach parity at 2-2 and set up an exciting and nervy end. The concluding two frames of this battle were also shared between the two teams and this was enough to see the Aughton Institute D team progress in this year’s competition. This match also saw Farmers B's, Gary Peate in top nick with excellent breaks of 35 & 27 in his frame victory. Group B Going into this final week in Group B with its final three matches where one was played on the Tuesday night and the other two encounters were contested on the Thursday evening. The Tuesday match saw Aughton Institute E go into battle with Farmers Club A and a win for either side would see them through to the knock-out stages of this year’s renewal. At the end of the night it saw the Aughton E outfit record a superb 5-1 win over the Farmers A team and as things transpired they ended up as group leaders and a certain home draw in the quarter-final. The match began and saw the Aughton Institute E boys straight into their groove as they clinched the initial two frames of the contest to move into an authoritative 2-0 lead. The second two frames also went the way of the Aughton E side to see them move into an unassailable 4-0 lead and guaranteeing their win. The last two frames of this match saw both teams grabbing one frame apiece to reach the final scoreline. On the Thursday, firstly, St Cuthberts A met Aughton Institute A and the Cuthberts A lads needed just a draw to confirm themselves in the last eight and the encounter concluded with a terrific 5-1 triumph for the St Cuthberts A outfit which saw them end as group B runners-up. The contest began with the Cuthberts A boys swiftly off the mark as they sealed both frames to soon move into a very useful 2-0 advantage. Frames three and four saw the St Cuthberts A lads continue their superb form as they clinched both frames to now move into an unbeatable 4-0 lead. The concluding two frames of the match saw both outfits grab a frame apiece and this saw the Cuthberts A guys through to their big success. The match also saw St Cuthbert's A, Steve McBrinn in brilliant touch with a cracking break of 45 in his frame win and this was enough to earn Steve this week’s ‘Break of the week’ accolade. Meanwhile, the other Thursday clash saw Aughton Institute C and Defending Kenney Cup Champions, Fleetwood Hesketh SSC with the Aughton C side being unable to qualify despite the result but a point for the Fleetwood lads would see them as group B winners. The contest ended with a wonderful 5-1 victory for the Aughton Institute C side but for no reward but even after this heavy defeat the Fleetwood Hesketh boys went through as a best third placed team. This encounter started with the Aughton C outfit very quickly into their stride as they clinched frames one and two to move into a very handy 2-0 lead. The middle two frames saw the exact pattern continue as the Aughton Institute C guys took both these frames to move into an unassailable 4-0 advantage. Frames five and six saw both frames being split between the two sides as the Aughton C team confirmed their fabulous win. The match also saw the prolific Gareth Hibbott in the usual fine form with a nice break of 38 but unfortunately for him it wasn’t enough to grab the frame. Group C The concluding week in Group C with its final three matches where one was fought out on the Tuesday evening and the other two contests were played on the Thursday evening. On the Tuesday Olympic BC B clashed with St Cuthberts B and sadly the Olympic B lads could not go any further in the competition but a win for the Cuthberts B boys would see them with a chance of progressing depending on the two Thursday outcomes. The match ended with a 4-2 victory for the Olympic BC B outfit so neither of these sides moved forward. The opening two frames of this match saw them being split between both teams to leave things in the balance at 1-1. The next two frames saw the Olympic B team move up a gear as they sealed both frames to take control at 3-1. The final two frames of this contest saw each side take one frame each and this was enough to see the Olympic BC B side over the line The match also saw Olympic B's, Paul Williams in fine nick with a nice break of 35 in his frame success. Meanwhile, the first of the Thursday matches saw Aughton Institute B come up against leaders, Skelmersdale Wardens B, and a win for either team would very likely see them as group winners and that all-important home quarter-final tie. The final outcome saw the Aughton B lads come away with a very solid 4-2 home success and confirm themselves as that group C winning side. The contest began with the initial two frames being divided between both teams to see it in the melting pot at 1-1. The middle two frames were also split between the two sides and this saw the contest up for grabs at 2-2. The last two frames saw the Aughton Institute B outfit up the pace as they managed to take both of them to confirm their vitally important win. Meanwhile, the other Thursday clash saw Olympic BC A go into battle with Rainford X SSC and sadly the Olympic A boys couldn’t qualify whatever the outcome but a win for the Rainford X outfit would see them through and that’s was exactly happened as the Rainford X SSC side manufactured a solid 4-2 triumph and the best second-placed side to earn that fourth and final quarter-final home tie. This match commenced with the Rainford X lads straight into top gear as they won both frames one and two which saw them open up a commanding 2-0 lead. The second two frames saw the Olympic BC A team battle straight back by taking both of these frames to level the contest at 2-2. Frames five and six saw the Rainford X SSC guys turn the match in their direction again as they grabbed both these two frames to finalise their fine win and their slot in the final eight teams of this year’s Kenney Cup competition. Other notable breaks this week were - D Woodward (Scarisbrick NSC) 37 & S Evans Jnr (Olympic BC B) 30.
